Tutoring + Essay Support
I offer support in all literacy domains and academic habits, as well as support with individual writing tasks. Literacy skills can affect a student’s success in multiple classes, not just English Language Arts, and every student deserves to experience support and a sense of success.
Individual Tutoring
I work closely with students and families to determine what their shared goals are, what might be holding a student back, and how they might best move forward. Book a free consultation now!
Step 1: Intake
I’ll collect and review information from you and your child’s teacher(s)
Step 2: Assessment and Plan
During our initial session I usually conduct informal and/or formal assessments. I charge one additional hour to score assessments and develop a plan. If your child has a recent reading assessment, e.g., DIBELS, I may be able to use that.
Step 3: Tutoring
$120 per 1 x 50 minute session weekly.
$140 per 2 x 30 minute sessions weekly
$200 per 2 x 45 minute sessions weekly
$240 per 3 x 30 minute sessions weekly
For students working on decoding, especially, research has shown that more frequent sessions are most effective. For younger students and those with attention challenges, shorter sessions (30-45 min) are recommended. I am happy to suggest homework to supplement tutoring sessions.
A 10% discount is available if you purchase 1 month of sessions in advance.
If these prices feel out of your reach, please let me know. I am happy to offer a sliding scale for those that need it.
Essay and Application Support
I provide support for all stages of the writing process (from brainstorming through to final editing) for college applications, scholarship applications, and important assignments. Book a free consultation now!

BOOK A FREE CONSULTATION TO DISCUSS BRINGING THIS WORKSHOP TO YOUR SCHOOL OR PROGRAM
Are you ready to become a naturalist, do your own investigations in nature, and share your discoveries with the world?! Then you must be a Wild Writer!
As members of this workshop, students will take on the role of a naturalist to
- Explore the nature area using their senses (rain** or shine!)
- Record their observations and wonderings in nature journals
- Investigate their questions
- Develop their authorial voice by writing about their discoveries and why they matter.
- Revise one piece of writing to submit to a Walnut Heights Nature Journal (every student gets a copy)
- Practice literacy and science skills
- Get dirty (to their own comfort level)
Students will be encouraged to use all the languages available to them in their nature journals, as this supports language development and learning. Students whose first language is not English will be given the option to either write their final piece directly in English or to write in their preferred language and translate to English for side-by-side publication.
Materials provided:
- Water proof journals
- Writing utensils
- Printed copy of publication delivered to their classroom after the workshop ends
Students will need:
- Weather appropriate clothing, as needed (consider a sun hat for sunny days, waterproof jacket and boots for rainy days, and gloves for the cold).

- Optional: Warm drinks, snack
** there will be a pop up canopy so that we have a sheltered place to retreat to during rainy class days **
