Sliding Scale

I offer many of my services on a sliding scale to make them more accessible to more people with the understanding that there is enormous wealth inequality in our country and the world. Please review the information in each tier below to help you determine what makes sense for you.

True Cost Tier (100%)

  • I can comfortably meet all my basic* needs
  • I may have some debt but it does not interfere with my basic* needs
  • I own my home or have stable housing
  • I own or lease a car
  • I am employed or do not need to work to meet my needs
  • I have regular access to health care
  • I have access to financial savings, family wealth and/or resources in times of need
  • I have an expendable income**
  • I can always buy new items
  • I can afford multiple vacations or take time off for leisure

I Need Some Support (80%)

  • I may stress about meeting my basic* needs but still regularly achieve them
  • I may have some debt but it does not keep me from meeting basic* needs
  • I have daily reliable transportation
  • I own my home, choose to rent, or have stable housing
  • I have access to healthcare
  • I might have access to financial savings
  • I have some expendable income**
  • I am able to buy some new items. I might thrift others
  • I can can travel annually without financial burden

I Need More Support (60%)

  • I frequently stress about meeting my basic* needs and don’t always achieve them
  • I have debt, and it sometimes prevents me from meeting my basic* needs
  • I rent or have unstable housing
  • I do not have a car or have limited access to a car
  • I am unemployed or underemployed
  • I qualify for government assistance including food stamps & healthcare
  • I have no access to savings
  • I have no or very little expendable income**
  • I am rarely buy new items because I can’t afford them
  • I cannot afford a vacation or time off without financial burden

*basic needs include food, housing, and transportation

**expendable income might mean you are able to buy coffee or tea at a shop, go to the movies or a concert, buy new clothes, books, media, or similar items each month.
